Smokey Bear - If you knew it was me would you have listened? (1973)
Smokey Bear is a United States Forest Service campaign and commercial image. The Ad Council, the United States Forest Service (USFS), and the National Association of State Foresters (NASF), in collaboration with creative agency FCB, use Smokey Bear to educate the public about the dangers of unplanned human-caused wildfires in the Wildfire Prevention Campaign, which is the longest-running public service announcement campaign in US history.
This is an absolute classic. "I know a place that's peaceful and quiet," say actress Joanna Cassidy in this 1973 PSA. She cautions viewers to be careful with fire in the forest in order to prevent forest fires. Extreme close-up of her face and hair as she tilts her head down; a costumed Smokey Bear raises his head making it appear as though the woman's face was only a mask that he was wearing. Smokey says, "If you knew it was me would you have listened?"
